On a hard freeze night, the county gravel running east toward Penrose shows nothing but two headlight cones and the fence line ticking past. Lippis Excavating works winter storms out on those roads, plowing the long drives and ranch approaches where a stuck vehicle is a genuinely bad evening. The blade gets set to take the snow and leave the road surface where it belongs; drifts along the fences get pushed back far enough that the next wind has somewhere to put the next load. Closer in, walkways and steps get shoveled and salted so the entries stay safe. There is a real pleasure in a plowed lane that runs straight and clean from the house to the mailbox.
