East Plum Creek carries a line of cottonwoods straight through town, and in late September they turn all at once, so the creek reads gold from Festival Park on south. Morrissey Lawn and Landscape works that stretch hard — mowing while the grass still grows, edging, trimming, then the fall cleanup that lifts the leaf drop off lawns before it mats down under the first storm. When winter comes in, often as a grey upslope wall out of the northeast, the work turns to snow: driveways, walkways, ice at the steps, whatever it takes to get a family down to the street. There is a particular pride in a shoveled walk on a Tuesday morning, dark and wet and bordered perfectly in white. Service runs through Castle Rock and out to Larkspur, Sedalia and Franktown.
