The Lawn Whisperer

About The Lawn Whisperer

North Boulder in October keeps its own hours: the light off Wonderland Lake stretches long and gold by four, and the cottonwoods decide to let go all at once. The Lawn Whisperer works quietly through that stretch — raking and hauling leaves, taking the grass down as growth slows, clearing the corners where leaf drifts pile against a fence. Listening is most of the job, honestly. A lawn will tell you where it goes thirsty, where the shade sits too long, where the mower has been turning in the same tired circle. By the first frost on the foothills, the yards along Broadway and up toward Lee Hill are put to bed clean, and in spring the mowing resumes in the same unhurried way.
