The Lawn Barbers

About The Lawn Barbers

A haircut and a mow share one rule: the lines are what people notice. The Lawn Barbers take that to heart in the Whittier and Mapleton blocks, where narrow lots, low stone walls and big street maples make every pass a question of inches — mowing, trimming tight to the fenceposts, edging until the sidewalk seam runs as one straight dark line. Boulder hands out June hail that can shred a lawn in ten minutes, so the follow-through counts as much as the cut: raking off the wreckage, tidying the curb strip, carrying the clippings away. On Saturdays the sound of it drifts up the block toward the mouth of the canyon. Everything gets a finish, right down to the last inch beside the gate.
