A plains snowstorm does not settle politely over Bennett; the wind picks it back up and lays it across the county roads in long drifts by morning. Plowing Around goes out into that — pushing driveways open, cutting through the drift at the end of the lane, clearing walkways and the path to the propane tank. Some storms drop two inches and blow it into two feet in a single spot, and the job is knowing which is which before daylight. Snow gets stacked downwind and out of the way, so the next storm has somewhere to go and the drive stays usable all winter. Out here, getting to I-70 on time starts with somebody's headlights in your driveway at five in the morning.
