Storms roll over Basalt Mountain and drop onto the valley floor between Basalt and El Jebel, where the ground flattens and the wind finally has room to work. Valley Plowing runs those roads — driveways, ranch lanes, commercial lots, apron-to-garage clearing so nobody begins the day holding a shovel. Down here snow turns heavy fast when the temperature climbs toward the river, and heavy snow left overnight sets like concrete. So it gets moved while it is still moveable, and the shaded approaches get sand. Wide, open, straightforward plowing: pavement showing, banks pushed back, room to turn a truck around.
