Plenty of houses above Avon sit dark on a Tuesday in January, and the storm does not care whether anyone is home. Mountain Properties & Landscapes tends them regardless — snow plowing, shoveling walks and steps, ice control on the steep approaches around Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead, then mowing, trimming and cleanups once summer finally climbs to those elevations. Three in the morning, wipers going, one more drive to open before the crews even reach the main roads: from December on, that is an ordinary night. Coming back to a place left in someone else's keeping and finding it exactly as it should be is the entire point. The same holds true in July, in green, at a far more reasonable hour.
