October in original Aurora has a particular colour: the big shade trees on the side streets north of Colfax turn all at once, and the ballfields at Utah Park go the deep tired green that grass gets just before the first hard freeze. Salgado's Family Lawncare LLC is closing the season then — final cuts, leaves off the turf, beds cleared and yards put to bed. A few weeks later those same streets need something else entirely, and the trucks come back with plows and shovels for the driveways and walks. There is pride in both directions: the last stripe of the year mowed straight, and the first pass of winter cut clean to the concrete. The town changes clothes and the work simply changes with it.
