Out at DeLaney Farm the old round barn still stands against the plains wind, a reminder that Aurora was pasture and irrigation ditch before it was avenues. Late spring is the test: a June hailstorm can strip a yard in a matter of minutes, and what follows is patient work — mowing, trimming, hauling out the wreck of shredded leaves until green comes back up through it.
