The ditch runs full through Ault in July, cottonwoods leaning over the water, and the town smells like cut grass and warm alfalfa. High Plains Tree and Landscape Services keeps both ends of that calendar: mowing, trimming and clean edges while the irrigation is on, then plowing, shoveling and ice control once the canals go quiet and the fields turn white. Same yards, same neighbors, a different tool in hand. Mowing lines straight enough to sight down; a walk cleared to bare concrete so an older neighbor can reach the mailbox. Ault is small enough that the work gets seen, and that keeps it honest.
