The ground under Arvada is clay, and by late August it has packed itself shut. Adler Aeration makes a living opening it back up: pulling cores, dropping seed into the holes, then feeding so the new blades hold. Around Lake Arbor the lawns lie flat and generous; on the older streets they tilt and terrace and take water at their own pace. Come back a week after the plugs and the color has climbed two shades, the surface soft again underfoot. Slow work, quick reward.
