Turf It Up

About Turf It Up

Late in the afternoon the Puente Hills throw their shadow down across the east side of Whittier, and the heat finally lets go of the pavement. That is a good hour to be working: the mower cooling in the shade, the trimmer ticking along a fence run, jacaranda petals swept off the grass into purple drifts at the curb. Turf It Up keeps these hill-foot streets tidy through the long dry stretch and green again once the rains come back. Hedges get shaped square, beds get cleared out, and everything cut leaves with the truck. A lawn done right holds the whole front of a house together, and that is the entire point of the job.
