About Franks Landscape Design

The winter rains come in from the west and pool at the bottom of every hillside lot in Whittier, and that is usually when a yard's real problem shows itself. Franks Landscape Design starts there — reading the slope, drawing the plan, then building it: planting layouts, terraces and beds, new lawn where lawn belongs, irrigation laid out to match. Up toward Sycamore Canyon the ground falls away fast, so a design has to hold as much as it has to please. Plants get chosen for the light a particular yard actually gets, not the light it wishes for. A drawing becomes a place you can sit in, and that turn is the whole point of the work.
