About Lona's Landscaping

First light on the flat coastal plain of West Rancho Dominguez is soft and silver, the palms still, the streets quiet before the working day begins — and that is when Lona's Landscaping likes to start. The day's route is a string of homes and small properties where the crew mows, edges, plants, and prunes until each yard has its lines back. Landscaping projects are the deeper craft: a front yard replanted, a bare side strip turned into something green and deliberate. On this stretch of Los Angeles County between Compton and Carson, a well-kept yard is a statement of care, and making that statement is the job. By the time the harbor breeze picks up in the afternoon, the morning's yards are already finished and clean.
