About Dreamscapes

Some afternoons the marine layer arrives early and settles over Watsonville like a low ceiling, and by four o'clock the whole valley has gone soft and silver. Dreamscapes favors that hour — cool air, no glare, the mower's stripes standing out plain in the flat light. The work is lawn care straight through: cutting, edging, trimming around fences and trees, weeding, and taking the cuttings with them when they go. A yard finished at dusk has a particular look to it, everything even and dark green and still. It is a small thing to hand back to a house, and it holds all week.
