About Boulders and Custom Curbing by Gary Swank

By noon in Victorville the light goes flat and honest, and every line in a yard shows exactly what it is. Boulders and Custom Curbing by Gary Swank works to that standard, tending yards where the borders carry the whole argument: mowing, edging where turf meets stone and decomposed granite, trimming, and clearing out cuttings and debris. Straight should be straight, and a curve ought to look like it meant to curve. The High Desert hands a property tan gravel, boulders and a great deal of sun, so the shapes have to be strong enough to hold it. Done right, the yard explains itself from the street.
