Jorge’s Lawn

About Jorge’s Lawn

Vernon calls itself Exclusively Industrial, and at midday along Alameda Street it lives up to the motto: big rigs idling, freight cars rumbling, heat shimmering off acres of pavement. That makes a patch of freshly cut grass feel like a cool drink. Jorge’s Lawn does lawn work here, cutting grass, trimming the edges and sweeping up clippings so the few lawns tucked among the loading bays look crisp. Southern California sun keeps grass growing nearly all year, so the mowing never really takes a long break. At the end of a job, a neat rectangle of green against all that concrete is proof that care still has a place in a city of machines.
