Ukiah rests in a long valley cupped by oak-dark ridges, with the Russian River winding south past vineyards and old pear country. In April the vines in the bottomland push out their first pale leaves, while the hills west of town toward Low Gap Park hold their green a little longer. Sangiacomo Landscape works Ukiah's yards through that soft season and on into the dry summer, cutting lawns, pruning back shrubs and keeping plantings shaped. Afternoons heat up quickly here, but evenings cool as the sun slips behind the western ridge and the valley exhales. A garden in this valley can carry the same calm order as a vineyard row, and the work aims for exactly that.
