Traina Thought Landscapes

About Traina Thought Landscapes

Tracy grew up around a rail junction, and the town still keeps that habit of thinking in lines — long straight streets, orchard rows, the freight horn carrying across the flats at night. Traina Thought Landscapes starts where those instincts start, with a plan: what the yard is for, where the sun lands in June versus December, which sightline should end at Mount Diablo standing pale on the northwest horizon. Only then does the planting go in — lawn shaped to the ground it sits on, trees placed for the shade they will throw in a decade, beds layered so something is doing its work in every month of the year. Installation and upkeep follow the drawing, and the drawing follows the house. A yard designed before it is planted ages into itself instead of away from itself.
