Grounded Landscapes

About Grounded Landscapes

Where Torrance runs out, the land quits all at once — the bluff, the long beach below it, ice plant hanging on in a wind that carries salt inland for blocks. Grounded Landscapes works the yards back from that edge, where everything gets a little spray: mowing and edging, salt-tolerant planting, ground covers, trimming, irrigation and regular cleanup. Coastal gardening is a negotiation with wind; choose well and the yard shrugs it off, choose badly and you are replanting inside a season. The aim is a garden that looks easy precisely because the hard choices were made at the start. On a clear afternoon with the breeze up, those yards are the best seat in the neighborhood.
