About Earth Design

Torrance was drawn on paper before anything was planted here — a deliberate grid of boulevards and diagonals laid out and left waiting for shade. Earth Design works in that same order of operations: landscape design and installation, planting plans, soil preparation and amendment, drainage and grading, irrigation, new lawns and low-water beds. Design starts underground, with what the soil will hold and where water wants to travel; settle that and the visible half mostly takes care of itself. Around here a garden has to make peace with dry summers, so the plan matters more than the plant list. The satisfaction is in year three, when a young design has filled in and nobody can tell it was ever an idea.
