Most mornings from late May onward the marine layer climbs the Conejo Grade out of Camarillo and settles over Newbury Park until ten, and there is no better hour to cut grass. Permagreen Landscaping starts in that gray cool — mowing, edging, trimming the borders, then fertilizing and treating weeds before the cloud burns off and the day turns hard and bright. Out toward Dos Vientos the yards sit right against the sage scrub, so the boundary between kept lawn and open hillside has to be drawn on purpose, week after week. It is honest work with a visible result: a level cut, a defined edge, turf that stays green through a long dry Ventura County stretch. By the time the fog lifts, the truck is two streets over and the finished yards look like nobody was ever there.
