Petersen's Lawn Service

About Petersen's Lawn Service

For a few weeks in late February, the orchards around Selma go up in blossom — pink and white for miles — and every lawn in town seems to wake at once. Petersen's Lawn Service lives for that turn: the first cut of the year, the mower tracing fresh stripes while petals drift over the fence. From there the season runs long, the way it always does on the valley floor, and the route runs with it — mowing, edging, hedge trimming, feeding the grass ahead of the hundred-degree stretches. There is craft in keeping a lawn green from bloom time to raisin harvest. Petersen's measures the year in exactly those terms, one tidy yard after another.
