About Kathy's Landscaping

Late afternoon on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, the sun drops behind the western hills early and the whole block goes soft and gold at once. Kathy's Landscaping keeps lawns in that pocket of Santa Clarita and in the neighborhoods that fan out from it: small front yards, deep back ones, narrow strips of grass along old driveways. Mowing on a set week, edging by hand where the walk curves, hedges squared, clippings gathered instead of left to scatter. A yard here says something about the house behind it, and the pleasure is in handing it back looking like someone paid attention. Then the truck rolls out past the depot and the light goes violet over the ridge.
