About PJ & Son’s Gardening

On the Mesa the wind comes up off the water around four o'clock and everything leans inland for an hour. PJ & Son's Gardening times the afternoon around it — the mowing done, the trimming finished along fences and paths, the last of the clippings bagged before a gust can scatter them across the driveway. Lawns here live within sight of the Channel Islands, salt in the air and blufftop soil underneath, and they ask for steady attention rather than dramatic gestures. Every visit ends the same way: straight passes across the grass, a clean cut where the lawn meets concrete, the yard handed back tidier than it was found. Ordinary weekly work, and the Mesa looks better for it.
