About Turf Science

Grass is a crop, and San Ramon's dense valley clay is the field it has been asked to grow in. Turf Science treats a lawn accordingly — feeding, aerating, running down weeds, correcting the thin spots and pale patches that quietly report what the soil is short of. Timing does most of the heavy lifting: feed ahead of the spring flush, open the soil before the storms arrive, and a lawn will hold its color deep into a summer that offers no help at all. There is a genuine pleasure in a diagnosis that lands — a yellowing lawn coming back green from the roots upward, week over week. Mowing keeps it neat; this is the part that makes it grow.
