About Pacific Garden Artistry

Evenings in the Dominican neighborhood belong to the oaks — big, elbowed valley oaks throwing shade over lawns that have to be coaxed rather than commanded. Pacific Garden Artistry works those half-lit yards under San Rafael Hill, mowing a little higher where the canopy is thick, thinning the shrubs so light can find the grass beneath. Some nights the marine layer comes over the ridge from Ross Valley and settles cool and grey across the whole block; by nine the next morning it has burned off and the lawn is dry enough to cut clean. There's real satisfaction in reading a yard that way, in knowing which corner drinks and which corner sulks. The result is a green that looks composed rather than forced, held together by a border you could draw with a ruler.
