The Branch

About The Branch

By November the coast live oaks around Jack's Pond have gone quiet, the cattails have turned tawny, and the light comes in low and sideways across the little valley. The Branch works that season the way it deserves — leaves and litter cleared out of the corners, lawns still mowed because in San Marcos they still grow, edges recut where the summer let them wander, shrubs trimmed back before the winter rains push them into the eaves. Cool-season weeks here are the ones that decide how a yard looks come February, when everything greens at once. So the work stays regular: cut, edge, trim, clear, haul. A tended yard in the off-months is the whole trick, and it never fails to show.
