About Sunflowers Gardener

In August the light around Memorial Park turns gold by seven in the evening, and every lawn in the neighborhood looks better than it did at noon. Summer runs long and dry in San Leandro, so we cut high, cut sharp, and leave the grass enough leaf to shade its own roots through the heat. A visit means mowing, edging, trimming, weed control and clearing every last cutting off the paths before we go. When the rain returns we aerate, overseed and feed so the turf thickens through the cool months. A green yard in a gold season takes nothing more than showing up on schedule.
