About Willow Glen Gardening

In June the jacarandas above Lincoln Avenue drop purple all over Willow Glen, and it lands on lawns, sidewalks and parked cars without asking. Willow Glen Gardening moves through the neighborhood in those long light evenings, mowing an even cut, edging the sidewalk strips that give these streets their shape, and clearing what has fallen so the green shows again. Los Gatos Creek runs behind the houses, cool under its trees, and the yards nearest it hold their color deepest into the dry season. The work is unhurried and exact: same height, same lines, borders held. A block of well-kept front lawns under old shade is Willow Glen at its best, and worth the effort of keeping.
