Pretty's Succulents

About Pretty's Succulents

San Gabriel sun is generous eleven months of the year, and some of the loveliest yards in the valley are the ones planted to drink it slowly — agave and aeonium among the beds, gravel paths, a modest run of lawn where lawn makes sense. Pretty's Succulents tends gardens in that spirit: planting and arranging beds, keeping turf trimmed where it belongs, weeding and grooming so every rosette and leaf shows its geometry. The old Mission district knows something about plantings that endure. A succulent bed in June light looks sculpted, and keeping it that way is patient handwork. This is gardening matched to the valley it lives in — bright, composed, unhurried.
