Madroño Landscape Design Studio plans and tends lawns on the slopes below Mount Sutro, where the eucalyptus catches fog at night and drips it into the soil until morning. A design here begins with grade and light — which corner takes three hours of sun, which stays cool and green without ever being asked. After that it is the ordinary rhythm that keeps it: mowing to height, edging the curves, cutting back whatever leans in over the grass.
