About TurfGlow

East of the city the valleys hold heat like a bowl — El Cajon, Santee, the flats out past the freeway where an August afternoon can run twenty degrees above the coast. TurfGlow starts early out there, cutting while the grass is still cool: mowing, edging, string trimming, weed control, fertilizing and the seasonal cleanup that keeps a yard from going ragged. In that heat a lawn lives or dies by how it's cut, and a blade set a notch high shades its own roots clean through the worst of it. By half past seven the trailer ramp is up and there's an even green yard behind it with the walk blown spotless. Come spring, when the hills go briefly emerald after the rains, those lawns hold their own against them.
