New Green Landscape

About New Green Landscape

After a rain the San Diego River runs brown and busy through the valley floor, and up on Serra Mesa the whole neighborhood smells like wet eucalyptus. New Green Landscape takes the days that follow — mowing the growth spurt before it gets away, edging the walks back to a straight line, clearing storm-strewn leaves and small branches off the turf. Grass in this town does most of its living in those few wet weeks, and catching it at the right moment is most of the craft. A yard cut in that window holds its shape a long while after. The valley dries out, the hills go tan, and the lawn stays green.
