Blue Monarch

About Blue Monarch

Mornings on Point Loma arrive under a low gray ceiling that sits on the cliffs until ten and then lifts all at once. Blue Monarch is out in it early, mowing the small ocean-side lawns above Sunset Cliffs while the grass is still heavy with damp. Salt air is hard on a yard — it browns the tips, it pushes weeds into the joints of the walk, and it asks for steady cutting, edging, trimming and cleanup rather than heroics. When the fog burns off and the water goes blue, a freshly cut lawn on that headland belongs in the picture. That view deserves a yard that keeps up with it.
