The first light in Golden Hill comes up over the canyon rim and lays itself flat across the lawns on 25th Street, and that is the hour this crew works. Edges are cut to a line you could follow with your eye from the sidewalk to the porch steps, trimming squared up at the fence posts, clippings blown off the walk before the neighborhood is fully awake. By the time the sun clears the Laurel Street bridge the yard is finished and the day belongs to whoever lives there.
