About Modified Landscape Design

The Crestview streets climb in switchbacks, and from the upper yards San Carlos falls away in rooftops all the way to the water and the far hills past it. Lawns on that grade are their own problem — short runs, cross-slopes, retaining walls to mow up against — and Modified Landscape Design shapes the maintenance to fit the ground rather than the other way round. Cutting across the slope, trimming clean along the wall lines, keeping the turf even where the water wants to run straight off it. Steep does not have to mean unkempt. On a clear winter morning after a storm has blown through, the view from those yards goes sharp to the ridgeline across the bay, and a lawn kept level and green belongs in that picture.
