Lawn gone

About Lawn gone

Come March, everything that is not a lawn wants to be one — foxtail and mustard filling the Lytle Creek wash, and the same eager crowd pushing up through the gravel strip beside the driveway. Lawn gone spends that stretch on the losing side of the weeds' ambitions, clearing beds, pulling growth out of cracks and joints, and cutting back the overgrowth that got comfortable over the winter. The lawn itself gets mowed and edged on a schedule, so the line between what belongs and what does not stays obvious from the street. Everything cut and pulled leaves with the crew rather than sitting in a pile by the fence. What is left is a yard with its boundaries back, which in this valley is most of the battle.
