Axel’s Lawn Maintenance

About Axel’s Lawn Maintenance

Down at Natividad Creek Park the sycamores let go all at once in October, and for a few weeks every lawn in the neighborhood is wearing somebody else’s leaves. Axel’s Lawn Maintenance clears them, mows what is underneath, edges the walks, trims the shrubs back off the fence line and hauls the pile away. Across the rest of the calendar the job runs quieter: a weekly cut, a straight border, a hedge kept honest. Autumn down here is warm and still, the kindest working weather anyone gets, and by four o’clock the light comes in low and gold across the grass. A yard raked clean in that light is a small, complete thing.
