Rough and Ready Land Management

About Rough and Ready Land Management

By late May the tall grass on the open acreage around Rough and Ready has faded from emerald to straw, and parcels along Squirrel Creek begin to look shaggy at the edges. Rough and Ready Land Management takes on that bigger ground, mowing fields and large lots, cutting back brush and keeping lawns and the land around them in hand. A mown parcel reads as tended from the county road, and cleared ground makes a foothill summer easier to live with. The crew works the land in long, steady passes until it lies open and even under the hot sky. It is stewardship at ground level, in a place where forest and pasture meet at the property line.
