Grass Roots starts where the name says — down in the soil of the San Joaquin Valley, some of the most willing growing ground in California. In late February, when the almond orchards outside Rosedale go white with bloom, the lawns wake up too, and that is when the real work begins: feeding the turf, striking back the weeds, mowing on a rhythm the grass can count on. A lawn treated this way thickens from below, so the green you see in June was actually decided in March. It is patient work in a place built on growing things, and Grass Roots is glad to be part of that long local habit.
