About D. Garcia's Landscaping, Inc.

By July the hills above El Sobrante have gone gold and the road out toward the reservoir shimmers by ten in the morning, so D. Garcia's Landscaping, Inc. starts early. Mowers run while the dew is still on, cuts kept a notch higher to shade the roots through a Richmond summer, edges cut sharp because a browning lawn needs its outline more than ever. The rest is weeding, trimming, and hauling off what the dry season drops. There is a particular pride in a summer yard here: clean lines, nothing overgrown, green held a little longer than the hillside behind it. When the fog finally makes it inland at evening, the work is long done.
