49er Scoops

About 49er Scoops

Quartz Hill takes its name from the pale veins of rock that prospectors once chased out of the Antelope Valley floor, and something of that patience still lives in the yard work here. 49er Scoops starts early, while the light coming off the Mojave is low and gold and the grass still holds its night cool. Mowing, edging and trimming happen in order, each pass laid neatly against the last, until a lawn reads clean all the way from the sidewalk. Clippings are gathered up rather than left to scatter in the afternoon wind. It is ordinary work done attentively, and the result is a yard that looks looked-after every day of the week.
