About Gonzalez

Along Garden Road the old grove trees still stand in rows behind the houses, citrus and avocado holding on where the valley used to be all orchard. Garden of Eden mows the lawns tucked among them, in that late-day light that comes in low and turns everything the color of a peel. Turf that lives beside groves catches leaf drop year round, so cleanup is not an afterthought here — it is half the visit. The grass is cut level, the borders are brought back to a clean line, and what falls gets gathered instead of scattered. There is something old-fashioned and good about leaving a yard in that condition on a Poway evening.
