About Shuman's Lawn Services

Porterville's autumn comes late and then all at once: sometime in November the sycamores along the Tule River let go, and every lawn in town wakes up wearing leaves. Shuman's Lawn Services spends those weeks on the patient part of the job — raking and hauling, clearing the beds and walks, cutting the grass that keeps growing underneath the litter. A lawn breathes better bare, and the yards cleaned out in November are the ones that look best when the winter rains turn everything green again in January. It is unglamorous work with a very visible result, which is the kind worth doing carefully. They take it street by street across Porterville and the towns around it.
