East of Redding the country opens into oak pasture and irrigated green, Cow Creek running through the middle of it and Lassen sitting white on the horizon into early summer. Bubba's Stump Grinding works these places at ground level — tree removal first, then stump grinding that takes the last of it below grade so a lawn can close over the spot and nobody would guess a tree ever stood there.
