About Jonezenn

After a hot Palmdale day the ground gives its heat back slowly, and by ten the desert sky opens over the valley in a way it never can down in the basin south of the mountains. Jonezenn keeps yards worth standing in on nights like that: grass mowed even, borders edged, corners trimmed, walks and drive cleared. Lawns here are small deliberate oases, and they hold together only with regular hands on them. A cut yard cooling off after sundown, sprinklers just finished — that is the entire point of having one. The work behind it is unglamorous and it repeats, and it is worth doing.
