Back Nine Greens

About Back Nine Greens

October in the Coachella Valley is a changing of the guard: the bermuda goes tan and dormant, the ryegrass comes up behind it, and for a few weeks the whole valley smells like seed and wet soil. Back Nine Greens keeps Palm Desert lawns through that turn — cutting down low, overseeding, feeding, watering in, then mowing the new green until it knits tight. The name nods to the last nine holes, and the standard is about the same: an even carpet, a clean edge, no thin patch where the sun sits longest. By late November, when the valley fills up again for the cool season, the yards are emerald and holding. That is the whole reason for doing the fall work while it is still hot.
