About Nonella's Tree Service

Carmel-by-the-Sea is a village built around its trees, with pines standing in the middle of the streets, cypress leaning east from a lifetime of onshore wind, and beach sand drifting up onto the sidewalks. Nonella's Tree Service tends that canopy block by block, lifting a Monterey pine clear of the eaves, pruning a cypress with the sea in mind, removing a trunk that has gone soft behind its bark. Summer fog keeps everything here soft and green, and it also keeps everything growing into everything else. The work is done quietly, needles brushed out of the gravel, the lane left the way the village likes to find it. It is a good feeling to walk up from Ocean Avenue and know which crowns you shaped.
