Helping Hands

About Helping Hands

On the flat old blocks between Myers Street and the river, the houses are close together and the yards are small enough that a neglected one is visible from three doors down. Helping Hands works those yards — mowing the strip out front, edging the walk, trimming around the porch steps and the mailbox, sweeping up so nothing blows into the neighbor's. For folks who can no longer push a mower through an Oroville summer, that hour of help is the difference between a house and a home that looks lived in. Beds get weeded, the hedge gets brought down to where the window can see out again, and the clippings go with the truck. It's neighbor-scale work, and the whole street is better for it.
